School fundraiser donation | Gloucester Family Photography

My kids' preschool had an auction for a fundraiser a few months back. I was so happy to donate a free photo session!
It turns out the winner and I went to high school together but didn't really know each other. PLUS we have a close mutual friend. I'm always amazed at how small this world is. I think my favorite thing is when I friend a new person on facebook to find that we have a mutual friend that is totally unrelated to how we know each other.

The "O" family met me up in Gloucester on the back shore. I had my wedding on the back shore of Gloucester and had some of my photos done on the beautiful rocky coast so I knew it was a great location. The only downside was it was VERY sunny and the sun was high.

I found this one large rock that had a tiny bit of a shadow and tried to do some individual shots there. The lighting worked out well but it was so hard for them to not squint!
But look at how cute these kids are!!! My daughter has red hair so I'm a little partial to red heads.

I was able to make a back lit shot work with no shadows on their faces but again with the squinting. I do love this picture though!

There were little tide pools in the rocks and the boys were just itching to get dirty!

I knew of this other location downtown (Captain Soloman Jacobs Park where I met George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg while they were filming The Perfect Storm) from when I used to work in Gloucester so we gave that a try. It definitely allowed for some more shady spots and I was really happy with the results we got there.

This was my best attempt at all three of the boys. I'm sure y'all know how super cooperative 3 year olds are ;-)

See you around, "O" family!

Jamie and Frank | Cape Cod engagement photography

So last year I was a guest at a friend's wedding. Through the pre wedding festivities I got to meet and spend time with her husband's family. Her husband's sister, Jamie was just about the cutest thing I'd ever seen...then I saw her boyfriend. At the wedding I may or may not have had a few drinks and told them they were the cutest couple I'd ever seen. I pretty much blushed and ran away.
This is the picture I took of them at that moment.

I guess it's true that flattery will get you everywhere because less than a year later they got engaged and asked me to photograph their wedding. I was so excited!

Jamie's family has a house on the Cape so I made plans for a mini vacation over Memorial Day weekend with my family to go visit my husband's grandmother and while we were there I met Jamie and Frank to do their engagement session.

They met me in downtown Falmouth where we did a few pictures.

I was given some requests right off the bat. One was for the photos not to look like a viagra commercial. That was actually a request from a family member. None of us really knew what that meant so I hope I accomplished no viagra commercial like shots. Secondly Frank wanted me to photoshop in some hair. I told him I'd put some dreads on him.

But seriously, this man needs nothing. Perfect!

At one point we were walking across the street when a woman asked us if we wanted to go into a restaurant to use their waterfront deck for some pictures. We were thrilled and took her right up on it. She then said that she had asked us when we had walked by earlier but we didn't answer her! I felt so bad she probably thought we were being rude!

They were so good to us when we got in. They got Jamie and Frank glasses of champagne and me some ginger ale. We got some great photos that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

I just love this little family. They are as nice as they are cute. Their house and yard were perfect for our photo session. Sean was fantastic!
